Using just a few ingredients, this basic recipe is not only versatile, it’s also light on calories, salt, and fat. Even better, it’s easy to tweak the ingredients to suit the meal, depending on your flavor preferences. I’m including a couple variations using a variety of spices and herbs.
Choose organic, light versions of salsa verde and white pasta sauce, with minimal fat and sodium. Combine green sauce, pepper, red chili flakes, and a little water into a food processor and pulse to mix. Add white sauce and process on low for about 25 seconds. You’ll have a thick, slightly chunky sauce. If you prefer a smoother texture, add a little more water and continue to process. Pour the sauce in a glass jar and store in the fridge.
I usually make up a batch of all these sauces and store in glass jars in my refrigerator. Makes it easy to flavor-up most any dish without adding a lot of calories or fat – a double win!
A mini food processor works best for this recipe. I use filtered water from my Clean Water Machine for all my cooking needs. Choose organic options when possible. Ingredients used in this recipe are available from Amazon. Click on the photos below for more info.
